Insomnia - November 2000

A perpetual lack of sleep
A dream with eyes too wide open
Not seeing the mythological nature of the mind
Hallucinations of day to day life
Constantly struggling with the void

The soul stares through broken shards at the world
Dried red lines cut through eyes
Trails fall off of bodies in motion
Actions see fast in moments of eternity
Moments too fast are watched with slow anticipation

Clutching hands so tight
Nails cause wrists to bleed
A self proclaimed martyr
Screaming at demons of the night
Begging for one small moment of release

The search for remedies:
Siddahartha's kiss of 'Ohm' upon the forehead
Knowledge of life from viewing a river
Put the mind at ease!
Stop the endless chatter of the mind!

The endless downpour of white pellets
Nightmares rear their ugly face
To frighten away the restless coma
Shutters race through the body
As terrified sweat drips away.

Howling at the moon that doesn't want to be seen
Whispering in an uncomfortable silence
Thoughts coursing through a maze
Trapped in a corner
Baring teeth to the dark ceiling

My body painfully vibrates, longing for serenity
The very cells violently hum
The silent rage begins
Loose muscles tense to a rock hard substance
Cries spew forth without a sound

A minute lasts an eternity
But moves more quickly to the end
To hear the requiem's repeated tone
Announcing the coming day
Another unrestful night plaguing eyes, body, mind, and soul.
